The General Subdirectorate of Quality and Industrial Safety has published on April 3, 2017 the “Explanatory note on the application of the Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation (Royal Decree 842/2002) of Delegated Regulation 2016/364, which establishes the possible classes of reaction to the fire of the electric cables “.
This document modifies, with respect to the commercialization of cables as of July 1, 2017, the criteria that the Ministry had established and maintained in its previous versions.
The criterion that reduces the pressure on distributors and installers to eliminate non-CPR products from their stocks before July 1, maintains this obligation for manufacturers.
THE MANUFACTURERS: they will only be able to put on the market electric cables with CE marking, fulfilling the required class according to the type of installation.
DISTRIBUTORS AND INSTALLERS: Those cables that have been commercialized before this date and that are stored in distributors and installers can be used until their stock is depleted. Distributors will not be able to purchase products that do not comply with the CPR regulations as of July 1.
