It is a fact that in the months when there is rain, lightning and thunder, our concern regarding the safety of electronic equipment increases. It could not be different, these devices are expensive and we do not want to be vulnerable to losses.
But did you know that electronic devices are susceptible to the risks related to disturbances in the electrical network every day? Yes, even in the months where there is no incidence of storms.
These problems are more common than we think. That’s because, in addition to the faults we already know, such as a blackout or power fluctuations, there are other problems in the power grid that are not as noticeable, but that cause damage to the equipment, either by reducing the performance and useful life or, in drastic cases, leading to the burning of the devices.
The most common electrical disturbances are:
1. Subtension: is when the amplitude of the voltage is lower than normal.
2. Overvoltage: occurs when the amplitude of the voltage is higher than normal.
3.Ruido: is the interference that arises from external loads and pollute the electrical network.
4. Peaks or transients: they are sudden and short duration elevations in tension. These can cause immediate burning of equipment and, in some cases, smoke or fire.
5.Apagon: is the absence of energy supply. It is a situation that you probably already know, when suddenly the energy went out in your house and you forgot to leave what you were doing and wait a few minutes, maybe hours, for the restitution of the electric power. Power outages can also lead to the total loss of data and important information.
